Michael Hogan Memorial Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in memory of Michael Hogan, a New Mexico Tech student who died in a climbing accident.
Michael C. Hogan, 20, a New Mexico Tech senior majoring in computer science, died on February 11, 2007, of injuries sustained in a rock climbing accident in San Lorenzo Canyon, a popular hiking and outdoor recreation area located about 12 miles north of Socorro.
Michael was a graduate of Rio Rancho High School, Class of 2004. He was described as “a highly spirited and creative person with a great love of life. He was an awesome son, brother, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Michael is survived by his mother, Kathy Campbell of Rio Rancho; sister, Rebecca Hogan of Albuquerque; father, Patrick Hogan and wife Mary Ann DeBoer of Chama.” More information about Michael can be found at http://www.cs.nmt.edu/~
The Michael Hogan Memorial Scholarship Program provides a scholarship annually to one New Mexico Tech student. Eligible for consideration are those undergraduate students who have completed at least 24 credit hours in residence at New Mexico Tech, have a 3.0 cumulative grade-point-average, are majoring in computer science, and have completed a scholarship application. This scholarship is in addition to New Mexico Tech scholarships.
Each fall, a committee comprised of the institution’s financial aid director, resident life director, academic and or extra curricula personnel will select the recipient. The Director for Advancement serves ex officio and provides administrative support for the committee.
The scholarship is not renewable; however previous or current recipients are eligible to re-apply for an additional award. The scholarship is worth $2000. To apply, please see Financial Aid.
